The idea of your own expression being uniquely valuable in some way to the point that you can't muster much curiosity or excitement about the things that others make...and anyone criticizing how you express yourself or telling you what they feel you should be doing with your art becomes someone you hate with every fiber of your being. It feels like a form of control that cuts deeper than anything else so you guard your art like it's holy.
To state the obvious, the issue with this worldview is that it ultimately stunts you. You don't grow as an artist or a person when you only care about your inner life. Art is communication, it is social at its core...I'm so so excited to see the arc Richeh goes through. I have a feeling this one might slap me bald.
